Inside an Ice Machine
Clear ice is a manufacturing process.
Cubes from a freezer tray are cloudy because the water freezes all at once, trapping air and dissolved minerals in the middle. A built-in machine freezes in thin layers against a chilled plate and washes what it rejects away as it goes. That is where the clarity comes from — and it is why there is so much more to go wrong.
So a fault is rarely "the ice maker is broken". It is water arriving too slowly, a fill tube frozen solid, a thickness sensor drifted out of adjustment, or a drain that no longer clears between cycles.
Arizona adds one more. Production falls as the room around the machine warms up. A unit rated for a cool utility space, installed in an outdoor bar, will underperform every July without a single broken component in it.
