What We Service
Aphelion Appliance Repair, an independent company, repairs Sub-Zero, Viking and Monogram undercounter clear-ice machines and the in-door and in-freezer ice makers of Sub-Zero and Monogram refrigerators across the Phoenix metro, including Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. The diagnostic is $119, waived when you go ahead with the repair, and repairs made with the parts we supply carry 12 months on parts and labor.

Inside an Ice Machine
Clear ice is a manufacturing process.
Cubes from a freezer tray are cloudy because the water freezes all at once, trapping air and dissolved minerals in the middle. A built-in machine freezes in thin layers on a chilled surface and washes what it rejects away as it goes. That is where the clarity comes from, and it is why there is so much more to go wrong.
So a fault is rarely “the ice maker is broken”. It is water arriving too slowly, a fill tube frozen solid, a thickness sensor drifted out of adjustment, or a drain that no longer clears between cycles.
Arizona adds one more. Production falls as the room around the machine warms up. A unit rated for a cool utility space, installed in an outdoor bar, will underperform every July without a single broken component in it.

One test separates most of these before we arrive: if the water dispenser still runs normally, the supply is fine and the fault is inside the machine. Sub-Zero’s own seven checks for no ice. Do you repair a stand-alone ice machine?
Yes: undercounter clear-ice machines from Sub-Zero, Viking and Monogram, and the in-door and in-freezer ice systems in Sub-Zero and Monogram refrigerators, including fill valves, thickness sensors, drains and pumps.
The ice tastes or smells wrong.
That is the filter and the bin rather than the machine. On an undercounter ice maker, Sub-Zero asks for the filter to be replaced every six months and the first batch of ice after a new one to be thrown away. It also asks for the machine to be cleaned and sanitized every six months whatever filtration is fitted.
