It is the most useful thing you can send us. With it we can check the part before we drive out — and tell you honestly, before anyone comes, if it is a machine we cannot help.
Sub-Zero
- Classic over-and-under
- Inside the refrigerator compartment, by the top door hinge.
- Classic side-by-side
- Inside the freezer compartment, by the top door hinge.
- French door
- Inside, by the top hinge of the left-hand door.
- Designer column
- Inside the middle drawer, by the drawer guide on the side opposite the hinge.
- Designer tall & drawers
- Inside the cabinet, to the left of the upper drawer.
- PRO 48
- Inside the cabinet, to the left of the upper freezer drawer. On the PRO 3650, to the left of the freezer drawer.
- Wine storage
- On the ceiling inside, or under the control panel. Designer wine columns: on the handle-side wall, just below the controls.
- Undercounter & ice makers
- Inside the cabinet, upper left. Undercounter ice makers: on the left side wall inside.
On the Built-In 600-2 series, the letter after the slash is only the finish — /S classic stainless, /O overlay panels, /F framed door trim — and the “-2” marks the second design of the series. Send both; they decide which parts fit.

Wolf
- Ranges
- Dual-fuel, gas and induction: along the bottom edge of the control panel, far right, with the oven door open. R series: under the left-hand burner pan.
- Rangetops
- Sealed-burner models: bottom of the control panel, far right. RT series: lift off the grates, rings and leftmost burner pan — the tag is on the left wall of the burner box.
- Wall ovens
- M series: near the bottom trim on the left, in the lower oven on doubles. E series: below the control panel on the right. L series: below the control panel on the right, door open.
- Cooktops
- Gas, electric and induction: on the underside of the cooktop — look up from the cabinet below with a flashlight.
- Steam & speed ovens
- On the left side of the front face frame, with the door open.

Viking
- Built-in refrigerators
- On an identification plate high inside the compartment, upper right — or on the upper left of the door opening. Bottom-freezer models: take out the produce drawers and check the back wall.
- Ranges & rangetops
- Open burners: lift out the left rear grate and burner bowl, and look into the opening with a flashlight. Otherwise: on the oven frame below the control panel, or on the underside of the control panel above the door.
- Wall ovens
- Open the door — the lower oven on doubles — and check the left side of the oven frame. On newer models, under the control panel.
- Cooktops
- On the underside of the cooktop.
- Wine, undercounter & ice
- Inside the unit, usually on a side or back wall.
On the Viking built-ins covered by the 2012 service manual, the serial number begins with the month, day and year the unit was made.

Monogram
- Built-in refrigerators
- Behind the grille panel at the very top, on the right side of the evaporator housing.
- Other refrigerators
- Inside the compartment, high on a side wall or on the ceiling.
- Wall ovens
- Open the door — the lower oven on doubles — and check the frame around the opening.
- Ranges
- Open the oven door and check the front frame. If there is a storage drawer, also look at the frame behind it.
- Cooktops
- On the underside of the cooktop.
The serial number starts with two letters that code the month and year it was built. The year letters repeat every twelve years, so they narrow it to a pair of years — the design of the unit settles which.

Washers & dryers
- Front-loading washers
- On the frame around the door opening, or on the back panel.
- Top-loading washers
- Under the lid, or on the back of the control console.
- Dryers
- On the frame inside the door opening, or on the back panel.
