Inside a Wine Cabinet
Two degrees is the whole job.
A refrigerator has one temperature to hold. A wine cabinet has to hold a narrow band, at a stable humidity, without shaking the bottles, and frequently in two independently controlled zones behind a single door.
The glass door is the thermal weak point. Sub-Zero’s 400 Series service manual shows the remedy: hot discharge gas carried around the door gasket seat, so the frame does not sweat. Condensation in humid weather is, by Sub-Zero’s own guide, normal.
Vibration matters here in a way it never does in a kitchen refrigerator. Hardened compressor mounts and a tired fan bearing pass their vibration straight into the racks, and the wine registers it long before anything shows on the display.
