- One problem. One bill. 12 months, parts and labor
- Open every day, 7am–6pm
What it holds is the point.
Four hours. That is how long a closed refrigerator keeps food safe once it stops. We are open every day, so the clock never has to run through a weekend.
Two sealed systems. Separate air, separate cold.
0°F on one side, 38°F on the other, each with its own compressor and its own air. It is why a Sub-Zero can be half warm and half perfect, and why the diagnosis has to be exact. Request a visit.
Refrigerator repair, first.
A $15,000 refrigerator is not an appliance. It is a sealed system balanced to a fraction of a degree, and Phoenix summers find every weakness in one.
- Refrigeration first
- Sub-Zero, Viking and GE Monogram refrigerators, wine storage, ice makers and freezers.
- Beside it
- The Wolf, Viking and Monogram ranges and ovens in the same kitchens, gas and electric.
- In the same house
- Washer and dryer repair on the same $119 visit.
- Where
- Within about 30 miles of downtown Phoenix: Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Arcadia, Chandler, Gilbert, Fountain Hills, Cave Creek and the rest of the metro.
- On what terms
- $119 to diagnose, waived in full with any repair. Twelve months on parts and labor on Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking and Monogram, with the genuine OEM parts we supply.
Full service, not just one part.
When a fan stops in a refrigerator, the fan is only what you noticed. We do not come to swap one part and leave. We come to end the problem and leave the whole machine in better shape.
-
01
The cause, not only the part
We replace what failed, then trace why it failed, so you are not calling about the same thing next summer.
-
02
The whole machine, checked
The check is part of the visit. Airflow, fans, seals, drains and temperatures on a refrigerator; burners, igniters, door and temperature on a range. You get a plain list: what is sound, what is wearing, what can wait.
-
03
Nothing added without your yes
Anything beyond the repair you called about gets its own written price, and you decide. If it can wait, we tell you it can wait.
-
04
We do not leave you with the problem
If a repair of ours does not hold, we come back: twelve months on the parts we supply and our labor. If the honest answer is that a machine is not worth repairing, or the job is not ours to do, you hear it from us, along with who to call.

The loop that keeps it cold.
Every sealed system is one closed loop of refrigerant, moving heat out of a box and dumping it into your kitchen. Four components do the work. Follow it around.
The compressor
Takes cool low-pressure gas and squeezes it into hot high-pressure gas. It is the pump that drives the entire loop, and the only part with a motor inside the sealed circuit.
- Running constantly but never reaching temperature
- Clicking every few minutes: the start relay, not always the compressor
- Loud humming or a new vibration through the cabinetry: which noises are normal
- On inverter models: error codes rather than obvious noise
The condenser
Sheds the heat that was just added. Hot gas gives up its heat to the room and turns back into a warm liquid. In Arizona this is the component doing the hardest work.
- Coil packed with dust; in a dusty environment GE asks for it to be cleaned periodically
- Condenser fan seized or running slow
- Too little clearance in the cabinet for air to move at all
- Cabinet warm to the touch, compressor never cycling off
The expansion device
A deliberate bottleneck: a capillary tube or valve. Pressure collapses on the far side, and that pressure drop is what makes the refrigerant cold. No moving parts, and no way to inspect it from outside.
- Restriction from moisture or debris in the circuit
- Freezer cold, refrigerator side warm
- Frost forming at one point on the line and nowhere else
- Diagnosis requires gauges; this is where guesswork ends
The evaporator
Where cold is actually made. The refrigerant boils back into gas and, in doing so, pulls heat out of the compartment. A fan moves that chilled air where it needs to go.
- Frost or a wall of ice building over the coil
- Defrost heater, timer or thermistor failed
- Evaporator fan blocked by ice, so nothing circulates
- A slow refrigerant leak, the reason the system stopped holding
Opening this loop is regulated. Under EPA Section 608 only a certified technician may recover and recharge the refrigerant, and a sealed system is recharged by weight rather than by feel. It is worth asking about before anyone reaches for the gauges.
A sealed system, start to finish.
Compressor and evaporator replaced, the joints brazed, the loop pulled down on a vacuum pump and charged by weight on a scale. No narration: this is what the work looks like.

- JointsBrazed by hand, with the surroundings heat-shielded.

Repair, or replace?
to know exactly what is wrong, waived the moment you proceed
- Genuine OEM parts
- Twelve months on parts and labor on Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking and Monogram, with the genuine OEM parts we supply
- The cabinetry around it stays as built
- Done in your kitchen, not in a shop
for the machine alone, before panels and installation: the makers’ own prices for new Sub-Zero Classic and Viking built-ins, September 2026
- Built-ins are ordered to size, not pulled off a shelf
- The surround was built to the old unit’s dimensions
- Panels, trim and filler strips rarely carry over
- A cabinetmaker or contractor in the house, not a technician
A built-in is not a box you swap out. It is joined to the room around it, which is why replacing one is a remodel and repairing one is a service visit. Repair is usually the right call, and when it genuinely is not, we will say so plainly instead of selling you a repair that will not hold. The decision, in numbers.
Before you let anyone open it.
Five questions worth asking whoever is standing in your kitchen, including us. They take a minute, and the answers tell you a lot.
-
01
Do you specialize, or fix everything?
Built-ins from these makers differ in the detail: sensors, defrost, sealed systems. Ask which of these makers the technician knows in that detail.
-
02
Will I have a fixed price before you start?
A diagnosis that ends in “we’ll see how it goes” is not a diagnosis. You should know the number before a single panel comes off.
-
03
Are the parts OEM?
Generic control boards and compressors exist for these machines. They fit, and they are cheaper. Ask which kind you are getting.
-
04
Will you show me what failed?
A replaced part you never see is a replacement you have to take on trust. Ask to see it. Anyone confident in the diagnosis will not mind.
-
05
Is the warranty on parts, or parts and labor?
A parts-only warranty means that when the part fails again, you pay for the visit and the hours a second time.
Our answers, in order: four makers; yes, sent to you before we begin; OEM on every part we supply; yes, in person; and parts and labor, for twelve months on Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking and Monogram repairs with the genuine OEM parts we supply.
Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking and Monogram repair.
Each is built differently, which is exactly why it matters who opens it.
Independent, and plain about it.
Not a factory service. Not pretending to be.
Aphelion is an independent company. We are not affiliated with Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking or GE Appliances, and we do not describe ourselves as authorized or factory-certified, because neither would be true.
What we offer instead is narrower, and easy to check: four makers of the luxury kitchen, refrigeration first, a price written down before you ever call, twelve months of warranty on parts and labor with the parts we supply, and a visit on a Saturday or a Sunday, because refrigerators do not fail on a schedule.

Four things we will not do.
Promises are easy to make on a website. Refusals are easier to check. These are ours.
-
01
Quote a price for a fault we have not seen.
The number comes after the $119 diagnosis, in writing. And it is the number you pay. If the job runs long, that is our cost, not yours.
-
02
Put our warranty on a part we did not supply.
Every part we supply is genuine OEM and carries the twelve months. A part you supply yourself we will fit for the labor alone, and if it does not fit, does not work or fails later, that labor is not refunded. We cannot stand behind a part we did not choose.
-
03
Call ourselves authorized, or factory-trained.
We are independent, and we say so on every page. What we know about these machines we show you in your kitchen, not on a badge.
-
04
Open a machine the maker should be fixing for free.
Still under the manufacturer’s warranty? We will tell you to call them first, even when it costs us the job. A covered repair should cost you nothing. What each maker actually covers, and for how long.
The rest of this page is what we will do.

In your home.
You are letting someone into a house that matters to you. This is what that looks like.
-
01
A message before we arrive
You get a message telling you how many minutes out we are, so you are not watching the street.
-
02
Shoe covers and floor protection
Before a single tool comes into the kitchen. Stone and hardwood are treated like the finishes they are.
-
03
The estimate, sent to you
A fixed price sent to your phone or inbox before any work begins. You approve it first, and it stays on record.
-
04
The failed part, shown to you
In person, before we leave. You see what failed and why it was replaced, rather than taking it on trust.
What waiting costs.
Not a sales line. The plain arithmetic of a machine that has stopped doing its job.
-
4hours
The refrigerator
How long a closed refrigerator keeps food safe without cooling, by USDA guidance. Every time the door opens to check, the clock runs faster.
-
48hours
The freezer
A full freezer holds its temperature for about two days with the door shut; a half-full one, about one. After that, it is a list of what cannot be refrozen.
-
Years
The wine
A cellar running warm does not spoil dinner. It ages a collection faster than it was ever meant to age, and nothing undoes that.
-
Unseen
The floor
A slow leak from an ice maker line or a blocked defrost drain runs under built-in cabinetry, often well before it shows on the stone.
We are open every day, so there is no weekend to wait out. The $119 visit exists to tell you which of these clocks you are on.
As if it never failed.
The panels back on, the seal pulling true, the compartment holding to the degree. You should not be able to tell we were there, which is the whole point.
Something stopped.
